Product Description
The Fiskars 39″ 4-Claw Stand Up Weeder makes it easy to permanently remove invasive plants without costly chemical herbicides that need to be applied multiple times. The long, sturdy, lightweight aluminum shaft helps to prevent sore knees from kneeling, or back aches from bending. Just place the head over a weed, step down on the reinforced foot platform, and the four serrated, stainless-steel claws will grab the weed by the root for clean removal. An offset hand reduces wrist strain, a viewing window in the pedal makes claw placement mistake-free, and an easy-eject mechanism clears the head between uses for quick and easy cleanup. The reinforced foot platform is 30% stronger so you can step down confidently to penetrate tough soil. Make weed removal easy, and fun, by simply positioning the tool over the weed, stepping down on the foot to drive the claws into the ground, pulling back on the handle to grab the weed, then lifting the tool to eject the pulled weed. Designed to help you transform the backyard, Fiskars lawn, and gardening tools are equipped with smart technologies and award-winning, ergonomic features that make it easier and more enjoyable to perform your own lawn care. From pruning shears, lawn mowers, weeding tools, and tree trimmers, we take a holistic approach to develop garden tools that reflect hours of immersive study, research, and validation, resulting in gardening supplies that outperform the competition and feel like a natural extension of your body.

I had bought another tool to extract weeds and the handle broke. Saw the Fiskar product and while more expensive, new the quality of the company and needed help with the yard work. Best thing I could have done. The Fiskar product is total quality and does exactly as advertised. If you want to remove crabgrass, this is the tool to get and also, it is easy to use. Recommend

Works especially well for spreading weeds like crabgrass. Very satisfying to pull up the whole weed and just leave a little hole. Saved me kneeling on the grass, too. Really like this tool.

I received this item about three weeks ago and have pulled up thousands of dandelions and assorted weeds with it from my yard in South Georgia. The ease with which this tool pulls weeds is truly remarkable. I can fill a full size 30 gallon trash can with weeds in about 20 minutes with this tool. I would estimate that I have filled approximately 30 trash cans with weeds in the past couple weeks. It helps that we have had rains recently, and the ground has been fairly soft. This makes it easier to press the prongs into the ground and to extract the long tap roots that dandelions have.Update May 12, 2013:After using this tool for about two weeks, the plastic at the base of the unit where the lever/foot pedal attaches to the shaft split in two. This rendered the tool unusable. The good news is that it was still within Amazon’s return period when it broke. When I told the customer service rep at Amazon that the item had arrived in good shape, but had broken within two weeks, she immediately offered to send me a replacement to arrive the next day. As she promised it arrived the very next day, and UPS picked up the broken one for return AFTER I received the replacement. This enabled me to use the box that the replacement was shipped in to return the broken tool as I did not keep the original packaging. Amazon customer service is excellent!I received the replacement weed puller and on the second day of usage it broke in the same place as the first one.Update May 26, 2013I reported my problem directly to Fiskars. They have a form online to report damaged tools. I had to include a close-up picture of the damage. I did not hear back from them, so I was surprised when two weeks later I received a new weeder by UPS. By this time I had returned by second broken unit to Amazon, and they had issued a refund. Fiskars does not ask for the broken tool back. They seem to be satisfied with a photo of the broken tool.During the two weeks I was without the Fiskar’s weeder I researched other weeders, but found nothing comparable that was of any better quality. The only truly durable weeder I found was Radius Garden 205 PRO Ergonomic Stainless Steel Weeder. Unfortunately, this tool will only pry the weeds out of the ground, but does not hold on to them and have the nice eject feature that is found on the Fiskars’ weed puller. This tool, although durable, is not nearly as efficient as the Fiskar’s Uproot Weeder. It is a lot more labor intensive, and I ended up not using it much.I was very happy therefore when Fiskars sent me the new weeder. After some consideration I found a way to use the Fiskars weeder without breaking it. Before I had been rocking the handle back in a single forceful motion to extract the weeds from the ground. This put too much stress on the plastic part of the lever. I found that if I rocked the handle back and forth, the Fiskars’ Weeder would hold onto the weed, and pull it out of the ground, without breaking. I ended up finishing my yard, pulling hundreds of more weeds, many of them with large tap roots, and the Fiskars is still in good working order.I suggest that you use a rocking motion on weeds with large root systems. Don’t try to extract them with a single forceful pull. It really doesn’t take much more time. I may rock it back perhaps 3 times, and the root comes out easily. This method prevents the plastic lever from breaking. This weeder works far better than any other one I have tried. I actually enjoy getting out and stabbing weeds and extracting them from the ground with this tool.I have been pleased with other Fiskars products from the time I first tried a pair of their scissors about twenty years ago. At present I have a long handled axe, a hatchet, and the StaySharp reel mower by Fiskars and I am very pleased with all of them. This weeder is the only tool from Fiskars that I am unable to give a five star rating to. I believe that by using plastic on the critical parts, they have built a flaw into the tool. Nevertheless, it is still the tool I prefer by far for this task. If one is careful with it, they can get good service from it.

I originally purchased one 05-09-23. Have luterally pulled countless thousands of dandelions and plantain, etc. with this well designed and well built tool.I collect grass clippings when I mow the lawn and use to control weeds and as a moisture barrier so I do not have to water as much for my vegetable garden. As such I do not want Weed N Feed fertilizer on the lawn or to spray for weeds. My .36 acre lawn was overrun with dandelions and plantain weeds. Using this awesome tool this again this Spring I hit the dandelions as they taunted me with their bright yellow soon to be fluffy seeds. Took a few weeks of half full 95 gallon yard waste carts till not a single dandelion was left. An extremely wet Spring made pulling dandelions root and all very easy. Worked so well even did my neighbor’s small lawn. This summer pulled countless plantain. With their small root ball very easy to eliminate.Have purchased my second tool recently as I neglected to inspect the serrated grippers after pulling so many weeds. Since was due to my neglect in basic maintenance did not ask for warranty replacement.New tool I will merely check the pin holding the serrated jaws after a thousand pulled weeds or so to make sure no movement requiring a tap back into place.Could not recommend this tool more for pulling weeds root and all. I have back problems yet could pull weeds for an hour or two with no problem.

Works great. Iseasy to use. I like no longer needing to bend over to pull weeds. As it is much easier on my joints. I recommended it to a friend, who also purchased one. She likes it for the same reasons.

This is by far the best weed puller money can buy. I’ve tried all different kinds and none of them came even close to this. Super light weight but very durable because of the metal used. So easy to use get the entire root and release with ease.Never touching a weed once.

Works great
I don’t write many reviews but I had to for this. I just got it this morning and went out to tackle the dandelions. It works great. I went for this one which was a bit more expensive as I was afraid the cheap ones would not last long. You can easily recoup the extra cost by saving on chemical sprays which you have to apply at the exact right time. This works every time regardless and pulls a significant amount of the root as well. I hope to tackle the back yard over time……it’s big and I have never sprayed there.Again…great product that works well. I just need a bucket tied to my waist so I don’t have all the piles of weeds to go pick up. lol
